Removing funds from the mailstation series

How to remove funds from a mailstation or mailstation2 and return funds to your original postage account or funding source.

Alert: After September 29, Pitney Bowes will disable postage refills on IBI meters affected by the new 2024 USPS mailing requirements. If your device is affected, migrate to a compliant solution to avoid business disruption. Check Your Account to see if your device is affected and contact your Account Representative.

As part of the meter return process, you must remove funds from your meter.



To remove funds from your meter:
  1. Ensure that your system is connected to the Pitney Bowes Data Center and then Press Funds. Your meter will display your funds balance.
  2. Press Menu.
  3. Press Review (Up) until the display says Change Setup? and then Press Enter / Yes.
  4. Press Review (Up) until the display says Remove funds from meter? and then Press Enter/Yes.
  5. Your meter will connect and show the amount of funds transferred from the meter back to the original funding source.
  6. Press Clear/Back. Your meter will display that it has been taken out of service.
To confirm that your funds were successfully transferred:
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press Review (Down) until the display says Select a Report? and then Press Enter / Yes.
  3. Press Review (Down) until the display says Print Funds Report? and then Press Enter / Yes.
  4. Insert an envelope or tape sheet to print the report. Your available funds should be $000.00.
