Setting up a wired network connection with a SmartLink device on the mailstation series, DM100i, DM200L and DM300C-DM475

Use a SmartLink device to connect your meter to the Pitney Bowes Data Center. These instructions are for first-time users who have never installed a SmartLink device on the mailstation, mailstation2, DM125, DM300C, DM400C, or DM475.

Alert: The USPS has discontinued all IBI meter technology, and many devices must be returned and withdrawn from service by the end of 2024. Use a SmartLink™ device to connect your meter to the Pitney Bowes Data Center. These instructions are for first-time users who have never installed a SmartLink device

Follow these steps to configure a wired connection with a SmartLink device.

  1. Connect your SmartLink™ device to an internet jack on the wall or a router with the included network cable.

  2. Plug one end of the power cord into your SmartLink device and the other end into a power outlet.

    • Your SmartLink device’s lights change color.
    • Once your device connects to the internet, the Network Connectivity light network icon blinks green.
    • Your SmartLink device’s Ethernet port lights display green for successful connection status and yellow for network activity.
  3. Plug one end of the USB cable into your SmartLink device and the other end into the back of the meter.

    • Your SmartLink device’s lights change color.
    • Once a network connection has been established, your SmartLink device’s USB Connectivity light usb icon turns green, and the Network Connectivity light network icon blinks green.

  4. Attach your SmartLink device to your meter with the adhesive fastener strips.
